Description
New Researchers Panel (NRP) invites theoretical and empirical research papers in various research areas of public administration and public management. This panel provides an ideal opportunity for young researchers (PhD students and researchers in the first three years of their academic careers) to discuss their research and work in progress with distinguished international scholars who will share their insights that allow for targeted discussion around the publication of the work presented.
The best new researcher’s paper will be awarded the IRSPM Stephen Osborne. This prize is awarded to the author(s) who present the paper which comes closest to publishing standard. Written papers are nominated by panel chair(s) or discussants and assessed by an award committee led by the New Researchers Panel chair. This prize is named after Professor Stephen Osborne a distinguished scholar and mentor of many new researchers, the founder of IRSPM, and the Public Management Review journal.
In the selection process, we will prioritize the paper proposals that are most relevant to the IRSPM Conference 2025 theme:
“Civic engagement and social capital in contemporary public administration: facing the challenges of social equity and environmental sustainability.”
This theme has a particular focus on:
- Citizen-Government Interactions, Civic Engagement, and Social Capital
- Social Equity, and Sustainability
- Digital Transformation
Each accepted participant who submits and presents a paper will receive a review from a distinguished scholar in the field. The selection of participants will be based on the review of proposals involving a short outline of the paper (no longer than 500 words in length) covering:
-
- The aim of the paper.
- Intended contribution to the literature.
- Methods.
- Main findings.
Personal details such as the applicant's name and institutional affiliation (university/ department) are placed on a separate sheet in Exordo.
NRP offers several activities for new researchers such as subject-specific publishing and career advice by selected IRSPM board members and established academic members. This panel is also a forum designed to promote professional networking with your peers and the other members of the IRSPM community more generally.
Any queries about submissions should be directed to the Panel Chair Dr. Barbara Zyzak barbara.k.zyzak@ntnu.no
